Mani

MANI

Back in 1986 when we went to India, we had all just gotten off the bus at Meherazad and we were standing around talking. Mani came up with a picture that had been taken of the outside of the building of Baba’s room, and she asked me to look at the picture. I looked at it and she said, “Do you see Baba?” I said, “Yes I see Baba right here,” and I pointed to the end of the building, and she said, “Do you see Baba coming around the corner?” And I said, “Oh, yes, I see Baba coming around the corner,” and she said, “Do you see Baba coming around the corner?” I said, “Oh, yes, Mani, I see Baba coming around the corner,” and she asked me for a fourth time, and this time with even more emphasis, “Do you see Baba coming around the corner?” and again I said, “Oh, yes, I see Baba coming around the corner.”

Then she told me that when the girl took this picture, Baba wasn’t there. She took this picture in such a way that we could hardly believe it, because it is just the way, maybe the shadows were and this and that, but Baba was coming the corner. All of us were surprised. Mani said, “But we see Baba coming around the corner of the building,” and you could see just as plain as if that was Baba coming around the corner, but she wanted me to emphasize it like that. I don’t know what it was really all about, but I knew Mani had a reason for having me say that the way I had to say it. It was wonderful.
